BRISBANE VALLEY RAIL TRAIL
We can transfer from Brisbane's rail network at Caboolture to and from the BVRT. Here's an example for 3 days:
Day 1, 42km: Transfer from Caboolture to Yarraman takes around 90 minutes. Ride 18km from Yarraman to Blackbutt, famed for its bakery. Another 5km is the village store at Benarkin then the descent to Linville. Stay overnight camping or in the pub.
Day 2, 52km: The trail is well serviced with the villages of Moore, Harlin and the larger Toogoolawah. Esk has hotels, motels and caravan park camping.
Day 3, 67km: Along the way is Coominya, Lowood and Fernvale. The BVRT finishes at Wulkuraka Station on the Ipswich Line.
For a leisurely ride, consider 4 or 5 days.
SOUTH BURNETT RAIL TRAIL
We can transfer from Brisbane's rail network at Caboolture and Nambour to and from the SBRT. Here's an example for 3 days:
Day 1, 30km: Transfer from Caboolture to Kingaroy takes around 2 hours. Ride from Kingaroy on the SBRT sealed section to Wondai via Wooroolin village. For extra distance, try some of the signposted country loops or the MTB trails in Wondai State Forest. Stay overnight at Wondai, choose camping, motel or pub.
Day 2, 30km: Continue 14km on the sealed SBRT to Murgon. Then it's gravel for another 16km to the delightful town of Goomeri. It's well known for the bakery, country outfitters and Grand Hotel. For more kms, ride the Boat Mountain loop and/or explore the Moffatdale Wineries. Stay in the hotel, motel or showgrounds camping.
Day 3, 30km: It's slow going on gravel between Goomeri and the Kilkivan finish. Allow 3-4 hours. The drive from Kilkivan to Nambour is about 90 minutes.
BVRT, Nanango & Upper Brisbane River Circuit: A two day loop combining the BVRT and back roads overnighting in the town of Nanango (pub, motel or camping). 130+km with nearly 100km gravel. Over 40km is on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (Linville to Yarraman).
SBRT & Proston Circuit: A two day loop in the South Burnett, combining the SBRT and back roads overnighting in the little town of Proston (pub or camping). 120+km and mostly tar. About 30km on the South Burnett Rail Trail (Wondai to Murgon and Wooroolin to Wondai).
BVRT & SBRT: Tackle the SBRT, LINK-TRAIL and BVRT, around 300km, suits 6 to 8 days. Start from Kilkivan with transfers offered from Noosa or Nambour Rail Station. Finish at Wulkuraka Station on the Ipswich Line. Overnights could be Goomeri, Wondai, Nanango, Blackbutt, Toogoolawah & Lowood.
SBRT & Moffatdale Wineries: A 90 km loop Wondai to Moffatdale, including 30 km of the South Burnett Rail Trail, wineries and a loop to do the Boat Mountain Road descent. Nearly all sealed.
